Resource-Constrained Workflow Nets

چکیده
We study concurrent processes modelled as workflow Petri nets extended with resource constrains. We define structural criteria for the correctness of such models based on traps and siphons. We also define a behavioural correctness criterion called soundness: given a sufficient initial number of resources, all cases in the net are guaranteed to terminate successfully, no matter which schedule is used. We prove some properties of sound nets.

Cost Soundness for Priced Resource-Constrained Workflow Nets
We extend workflow Petri nets (wf-nets) with discrete prices, by associating a price to the execution of a transition and, more importantly, to the storage of tokens. We first define the soundness problem for priced wf-nets, that of deciding whether the workflow can always terminate properly, where in the priced setting “properly” also means that the execution does not cost more than a given th...

We extend workflow Petri nets (wf-nets) with discrete prices, by associating a price to the execution of a transition and to the storage of tokens. We first define the safety and the soundness problems for priced wf-nets. A priced wf-net is safe if no execution costs more than a given budget. The soundness problem is that of deciding whether the workflow can always terminate properly, where in ...

We study concurrent processes modelled as workflow Petri nets extended with resource constraints. We define a behavioural correctness criterion called soundness: given a sufficient initial number of resources, all cases in the net are guaranteed to terminate successfully, no matter which schedule is used. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for soundness and an algorithm that checks it.
متن کاملDynamic Soundness in Resource-Constrained Workflow Nets
Workflow Petri nets (wf-nets) are an important formalism for the modeling of business processes. For them we are typically interested in the soundness problem, that intuitively consists in deciding whether several concurrent executions can always terminate properly. ResourceConstrained Workflow Nets (rcfw-nets) are wf-nets enriched with static places, that model global resources. In this paper ...

Preface This special issue is dedicated to selected papers from the 33rd International Conference on Application and Theory of Petri Nets and Concurrency (PETRI NETS 2012), which took place in June 2012 in Hamburg, Germany. In a careful reviewing process, 18 regular papers have been accepted for presentation at the conference among 55 submissions. Then, after the conference, a collection of pap...
